Why is China dumping copper and flooding the metals market?

China is going through its third batch of strategic reserves selling, commencing on September 1. This sale will include 150,000 tons of metal, including 70,000 tons of aluminum, 50,000 tons of zinc, and 30,000 tons of copper.

Due to this selling, copper has fallen from its highs in May.
